Under great pressure from many people I am also offering a "weed" fin. The inherent problems with a swept wing design have always plagued fin designers. The farther you sweep a fin back the more likely it is to ventilate. This also increases drag and decreases lift. So at best what anyone can offer you is a fin that will shed most weeds and give a compromised performance. In this respect I am no different. What I have chosen to do however, is to go with a slightly higher aspect ratio, which decreases the tendency to ventilate. This means that if you were to be comfortable with an 11" weed fin having an Area of approx. 45sq.in.(290 sq. cm)  this 12" one will serve you well. I based the design on the swept wings of the sub/supersonic fighter/bombers. The delta wings of the supersonic fighters were not at all applicable to the water. I also put the center of effort a little bit further forward of most current weed fins to make it handle more like a slalom fin. I made no attempt to lighten the fin with some kind of a foam core. It is all carbon, and all possible twist off was eliminated by controlling the fiber orientation within the fin. After all the testers have sailed it the results were unanimous. It goes up wind like a blade, turns like a blade, and goes off the wind without ventilating!!!
